Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

What it's all about

Treating depression with Mindfulness (Symran)

Mindfulness based cognitive therapy is a unique combination of Eastern meditative practices and perspectives (mindfulness or Symran) with Western psychological practices (cognitive therapy) as a synthesis that has proved to be one of the most effective methods of treating anxiety, depression and prevention of relapse into depression.

Although this therapeutic approach was developed to relieve human suffering especially those afflicted with depression, however, this approach goes much further than depression, anxiety and stress, but effective in a range of mental disorders.

The essence of mindfulness is universal, although it has been historically associated with Buddhism meditative practices. Mindfulness is cultivated by refining our abilities to pay attention to the present moment-by-moment unfolding with sustainable and alert awareness. Although Mindfulness itself is not a technique or method but there are numerous techniques and methods to cultivate mindfulness.
